The Gourmet Club

Since I am married to a foodie, I thought it would be a great idea to start a small supper club with a few of our very close friends. This supper club is not your ordinary supper club, as we have two serious chefs! Each month the host couple is assigned with making appetizers, a main spread, dessert and a signature drink. When Charlie and I hosted back in February, he of course was in charge of the meal, and too bad I started this blog after we hosted. I promise to upload the recipes when we host again in May! I am looking forward to the months and years to come with this #tgc supper club.

So last night the Bakers hosted, pictured below in the center is Kathleen, the "2nd foodie" I am speaking of. She LOVES to cook and has the PATIENCE to create wonderful meals. Last night's spread was phenomenal. I am lobbying for supper clubs to be hosted on a Friday evening, as this girl had a hard time getting up to carry out my normal morning routine. Good friends, good food and good wine is a great mix, but not on a Thursday evening!

A very special weekend, Easter

Easter has always been a very special time for our families. Charlie’s family, especially his Grandmother, Gan, are very strong Christians. Charlie grew up in a small church outside of Bishopville, called St. Luke's Methodist in Elliott, SC.  I grew up in a Presbyterian Church in Mooresville, NC, where the Lyerly clan has been going for years. I do love a small church where everyone knows you by name and you are noticed in your absence.
On Easter Sunday, the Mimms’ crew packed up and went to St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Elliott, SC. The church is so small there isn’t even a choir, but the quaint church is so beautiful and so peaceful, it’s like the Lord is sitting there worshipping with us.

We had a wonderful weekend with family. My parents came and stayed in Bishopville on Saturday night. Polly fixed a wonderful meal both Saturday and Sunday. I love his big family, and look forward to adding to the numbers one day!

Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

At Harry's in Bishopville, Anna loves sitting in between us at every meal.

Making Gan's famous biscuits, can't share the recipe!

At St. Luke's on Easter Sunday

Charlie "rubbing the ham," Anna is always a big help!

Anna loved spending the afternoon with us on Friday in Columbia.

My Commitment to this Blog

My friend, Julia, inspired me to start this blog. I created one a few years ago but quickly realized how time consuming it was to keep up. However, I am determined to keep this one up as a reminder of my journey through life.

I would love to go back in time and start it the day my husband and I got married, but I can't fathom putting all the memories, trips and photos together on this blog, it would take way too long. So I am starting today, April, 17th, 2014 and look forward to sharing our journey with you.
